JESUS told His disciples to go into the entire world, telling everyone that He had paid the penalty for sins and that those who believe in him can be forgiven and live eternally with God. Christians today in all parts of the world are telling this Good News to people who haven’t heard about Christ. The driving power that carries missionaries around the world and sets Christ’s Church in motion is the faith that comes from the Resurrection. Do you ever feel as though you don’t have the skill or determination to be a witness for Christ? You must personally realise that Jesus rose from the dead and lives for you today. As you grow in your relationship with Christ, He will give you both the opportunities and the inner strength to tell His message.

“It was not long after He said this that He was taken up into the sky while they were watching, and He disappeared into a cloud. As they were straining their eyes to see Him, two white-robed men suddenly stood there among them. They said, “Men of Galilee, why are you standing here staring at the sky? Jesus has been taken away from you into heaven. And someday, just as you saw him go, He will return!”-Acts 1:9 & 10.

After 40 days with His disciples (1:3), Jesus returned to heaven. The two white-robed men were angels, who proclaimed to the disciples that one day Jesus would return in the same way He went—bodily and visibly. History is not haphazard or cyclical; it is moving toward a specific point—the return of Jesus to judge and rule over the earth. We should be ready for His sudden return (1 Thessalonians 5:2), not by standing around but by working hard to share the Good News so that others will be able to share in God’s great blessings.

The Church is the people called out of the world and redeemed by the blood of Jesus Christ. The Church is the people called to serve and worship God. The church is the body of Christ. The church is not the building or the block edifice. The church is you.

A church is a group of persons who come together for the purpose of learning about and worshiping God. Today, “church” is the most common term used for a body of worshiping believers.

“So it is with Christ’s body. We are all parts of His one body, and each of us has different work to do. And since we are all one body in Christ, we belong to each other, and each of us needs all the others”- Romans 12:5.
Paul uses the concept of the human body to teach how Christians should live and work together. Just as the parts of the body function under the direction of the brain, so Christians are to work together under the command and authority of Jesus Christ.

Now all of you together are Christ’s body, and each one of you is a separate and necessary part of it”- I Corinthians 12:27:
Jesus has prayed for the Church. Now I say to you that you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church, and all the powers of hell will not conquer it”- Matthew 16:18.
