Key Verse: Psalm 23:4, “Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.” (NKJV)

The Psalmist says, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for you are with me. No matter where you are, no matter what the situation is, and no matter what they say is happening, the Lord is there with you. Remember the story of Elisha and his servant when the king of Syria sent soldiers to arrest them and the servant awoke in the morning and discovered that the house in which they live have been surrounded by soldiers. He cried to his master and said, alas my master, we are in trouble, we are completely surrounded by the enemy soldiers and they have come to capture us, (2 Kings 6:13-15). But Elisha was not moved; that is what the Apostle Paul calls the peace that passes all understanding, that is the peace that you have in spite of what everybody is seeing that is going contrary (Philippians 4:6).

There is a beautiful hymn we sing years ago that says: “In the shadow of His wings, I find peace of mind.” There is joy and peace in Jesus and you can stay under the shadow of the Almighty. When Jesus was sending out His disciples in Mathew Chapter 28:20, He said to them: “Lo I am with you always, even to the end of the age. The Lord is always with you, the Lord is there with you and He is Jehovah Shammah, which means, ‘The Lord is There.’” Wherever any child of God who has given his life to Christ and voluntarily become part of the sheep of Christ is, Jesus is always there with him.

The Psalmist says, thou preparest a table before me in the presence of my enemies (Psalms 23:5a). Although you are a child of God, you love God so much, you plan well for your neighbours, you think well for your neighbours and you relate well with your neighbours, but you cannot stop someone from being an enemy; it is good you know this. There are enemies and the Apostle Paul talked of enemies within and enemies without (Romans 7). When Jesus walked up and down in His earthly ministry, there were enemies. Unfortunately, the religious leaders made themselves enemies unto Jesus. Jesus did not see them as enemies because He came to save the world, but they regarded Him as enemy. They were struggling, striving and scheming to get Him out of the way. There may be people scheming against you, wanting to block your way and even want to kill you. These are facts of everyday life. The more you live for God, the more the enemies hate you and the more the testimonies fly, the more Satan is bitter and angry with you.

The next man or person you have never done any wrong, Satan may suddenly fill him with hatred and bitterness against you and he will begin to become a tool in the hands of the devil to unleash mayhem against you, but Isaiah 54:17 says, no weapon formed against you will prosper, for this is the heritage of the servants of God. God says that all the hair on your head are numbered and that not even one shall fall to the ground except He allows it (Mathew 10:29-31). So, you won’t be afraid of the devil because the Lord is always there with you.
