Memory Verse: ‘Jesus answered and said… Verily, verily, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God’, John 3:3
Bible Passage: John 3:1-13

Introduction:
Man is a spirit. Therefore the most important thing about man is his spiritual state. Man is either dead in sin or alive in Christ. Adam and Eve, the first couple sinned and died spiritually by separation from God. Thereafter every member of the human race was conceived and born dead spiritually, Ps. 51:5. All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God, Romans 3:23.  We all arrived spiritually dead. We need another birth to become spiritually alive again.  And it is not a biological re-birth. It is not getting back into our mothers’ womb. What is flesh is flesh and what is spirit is spirit!

The New Birth
The heart of man outside Christ is deceitful and desperately wicked, Jer.17:9. It cannot be reformed, renewed, restored by any one, Jer.13:23. We need enablement and empowerment to live righteously in Christ Jesus, Ps. 4:3, Gal.2:20, Jn.3:3-5, Heb.12:14, 1Pet.1:15-16. The new birth is indispensable to become alive spiritually.

The Process
It all starts with deep conviction of our sorry state of hopelessness and helplessness in sin and the abiding need for God’s mercy, Rom.6:23, 1Thess. 5:9. Believe the word of God, 1Pet.1:25. God came in the flesh in the person of Jesus Christ to save mankind from sin, Tit. 2:11, Jn.1:14, Acts 4:12, Jn.3:16-18. Confess your sins, Rom.10:10, 1Jn.1:9 and repent. Accept Jesus as your Lord and Saviour. Invite Him into your heart, Jn.1:12. You will surely become a new creature, alive in the spirit. You will turn a new corner and a new page, 2Cor.5:17.

Conclusion
We are saved by grace and not works, Eph.2:4-9. We however need to work out our salvation with fear and trembling taking nothing for granted. Some things will supernaturally fall off or break away or be uprooted, Phil.2:12. Other things must be specifically dealt with by rugged discipline, determination and bringing your natural instincts and appetites into subjection and control by the power of the Holy Spirit.
Please note that the forces of darkness never give up. They always regroup and relaunch even after a most ignoble defeat or loss. Watch and pray always. He came against our Lord Jesus again and again. It will be very dangerous to give any room to the devil. You will laugh last in Jesus’ name.
