Matthew 9:27-30: “And when Jesus departed thence, two blind men followed him, crying, and saying, thou son of David, have mercy on us. 28: And when he was come into the house, the blind men came to him: and Jesus saith unto them, ‘believe ye that I am able to do this?’ They said unto him, yea, Lord. 29: Then touched he their eyes, saying, according to your faith be it unto you. 30: And their eyes were opened; and Jesus straitly charged them, saying, ‘see that no man know it.”
The foundation of Christianity is laid on the Almighty God through His only begotten son, Jesus Christ. God is the creator of everything on earth and above. He is the provider of all things in heaven and on earth. Christians through Abraham our spiritual father had a covenant with God in which Christians will serve and worship God while the latter offers protection and provisions at all times. There is a condition through which God fulfills His own part of the truce. While you as an individual, a spiritual son of Abraham serves and worships Him; you must strongly believe He is able to accomplish His own part, even though you are not seeing Him. The placing of that confidence in God without seeing Him physically is called faith. In the relationship between God and Christians, His children, faith is likened to legal tender used as a medium of exchange in any given country or economy. Heb.11v 6 says: “But without faith, it is impossible to please Him, for he that cometh to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him.” It is when one is pleased and happy that one releases blessings and gifts to people around him and afar off. The angels God used to make His promise to Abraham’s child were well fed and happy, hence they called Sarah and promised her of a child. It was after Isaac had eaten a good dish from Jacob that he released his blessings to him. We need to please God through our faith in Him.
Operationally, faith refers to a set of proven beliefs and convictions that leads an individual to place his trust and commitment on a being or something. In the Christian cycle, our faith is placed on God. Faith is the operating strategy through which Christians approach God.
In the lead scripture above, prior to the healing of the blind men, our Lord Jesus Christ asked them whether they believed that He, Jesus Christ, can heal them and they answered in the affirmative. In His healing declaration, Jesus said let it be to them according to their faith. This simply makes it clear that faith is the key factor in not only divine healing, but also obtaining any other thing from God.
In reference to the agreement between God and Abraham, we are sure that while we as Christians play our part in the covenant, we strongly believe that at the appointed time He will fulfill His own part. This is why Psalm 50:14-15 advises: “Offer unto God thanksgiving; and pay thy vows unto the Most High. 15: And call upon me in the day of trouble: I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me.”
The foundation for the protection and prosperity of Christians both here on earth and in heaven has been laid. The second leg is for every Christian to render selfless service to God and fellow human being. God in His part will fulfill His own part without failing. Christians owe it as a duty to let the people outside Christ to understand the ways of God; we must never relent in our effort to continue to call upon Him in time of need. This is why Luke 8:22-25 says: “Now it came to pass on a certain day, that he went into a ship with his disciples: and he said unto them, Let us go over unto the other side of the lake. And they launched forth. 23: But as they sailed he fell asleep: and there came down a storm of wind on the lake; and they were filled with water, and were in jeopardy. 24: And they came to him, and awoke him, saying, ‘Master, master, we perish. Then he arose, and rebuked the wind and the raging of the water: and they ceased, and there was a calm.
25: And he said unto them, ‘where is your faith?’ And they being afraid wondered, saying one to another, what manner of man is this! For he commandeth even the winds and water, and they obey him.” The people in the ship marvelled because our Lord Jesus Christ commanded the wind to stop and it obeyed Him. It is written that if one has faith as a mustard seed, one can command the mountain to move and it will be removed. Our Lord Jesus Christ’s work is based on the principle of faith. His expectation is that each of His disciples must work and live by faith. That was why He asked where were their faith? He expected that with their (Disciples) faith in God, they should rebuke the wind and tempest to cease even without waking Him from sleep.
In the beginning, during the creation, God was releasing commands and everything was coming into existence. There was no exertion of physical strength to bring the things into existence. This is clear exercise of faith as God has faith in Himself that His word will never fall to the ground. Fortunately, God made man in His own image and likeness. He gave man His nature and character. This simply means we function like God by putting our faith in Him believing in practice that whatever declaration we faithfully make will be accepted and confirmed by heaven. This is to say that in exercising our faith, God is at hand to back whatever declarations we make.
The Bible says in Jeremiah 23:22-23: “But if they had stood in my counsel, and had caused my people to hear my words, then they should have turned them from their evil way, and from the evil of their doings. 23: Am I a God at hand, saith the Lord, and not a God afar off?” God is not far from us to do us good and satisfy our needs if we are obedient to His counsel. His counsel is for us to work in faith in obedience to His word. He is always there for us. Again in Acts 17:27-28, the Bible says, “That they should seek the Lord, if haply they might feel after him, and find him, though he be not far from every one of us. 28: For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, for we are also his offspring.”
It is of necessity we seek the Lord diligently and faithfully believing that since He created us in His own image, breathed His own breath into us to give us life, we should function like Him; live and move in Him as His children. We do the work of our father by preaching the gospel to shame the Devil and delivering the people he holds in captivity. With this added to our faithful service, God will always grant our heart desires in Jesus’ name.
Testimony Of The Lord’s Doing
God Rolled Away 25 Years Of Barrenness
Brother Alozie Onyebuchibeya Innocent was filled with joy when he mounted the podium with his family members — little daughter, Rejoice Chinasa Innocent; Isaac Chiemena Innocent, son; and his wife, Peace Innocent. He sang praises to God, thanking Him for His faithfulness and mercy.
He said that God’s visitation started in 2020, after the lockdown. According to him, after the programme, titled: “From Sorrow To Joy,” he called on God and reminded Him that he has stayed over 24 years in marriage without children, and not quite long he made that prayer, God remembered him and broke the yoke of 25 years of barrenness in his marriage.
He prayed that if God would bless them with a baby boy that he (Alozie) would appreciate God with the sum of #100,000. However, God blessed them with a baby girl, Rejoice, he said he still went ahead to fulfill his vow to God.
On the day of dedication, as G.O was praying, he said, “25 years is not 25 days, wait, brothers are coming, to the glory of God.” Eventually, one of the brothers, Isaac, arrived, after G.O’s prayer. Brother Alozie believed that other brothers are on the way as the G.O had prayed and the family is very grateful to God for these wonderful miracles.
However, a month after the boy’s birth, the enemy afflicted him, and his scrotum was swollen. Doctor said it was hernia and that the operation will be carried out when the boy would be over two years. But he rejected it right in the hospital and returned home. According to him, getting to his house, he called on God to heal his son before the day of his dedication. Lo and behold, three weeks ago, the hernia disappeared even before the day of dedication. P-r-a-i-s-e, the Lord!
In conclusion, they appreciated God with the sum of #110,000. P-r-a-i-s-e, the Lord!
