Chairman of Conference of United Evangelical Church also known as Qua Iboe Church, Reverend Samuel Ebukiba has appealed to governments at various levels to initiate policies that will boost the nation’s economy.

The cleric also enjoined Nigerians not to lose hope in the country, despite the current economic hardship and assured that there would be light at the end of the tunnel.

Ebukiba, who is also the Chief Host made the appeal during his closing remarks at the end of the Church’s136th yearly international conference with the theme: “Going From Strength To Strength” held at the Lagos Township Superintendency headquarters of the Church in Surulere, Lagos.

He said: “As God’s people, having come together in love to seek divine intervention and strength for ourselves, families, church, Nigeria and world at large, and as we depart and spiritually loaded, I beseech thee as fellow Nigerians, to look beyond the prevailing situation in the country and see bigger picture, which has light at the end of the tunnel.”

The chairman, who believes that the leaders at various levels are not relenting in their efforts to make the country better, appeals to Nigerians to pray for those in power to live up to expectations of ensuring safety of lives and property of citizens, as well, reduce poverty and create opportunities to take people out of the shackles of poverty.

“I know that our government at all levels are not relenting on their efforts to making our nation a better place. Let us exercise little patient with them, pray for them and encourage them to work for the interest of all. Nigeria had faced many difficult situations in the past, but God had always proved to be faithful.”

He will surely come to our rescue once we keep relying on Him,” he said.

Quoting Psalm 124:1 to buttress his point, Ebukiba added: “That is why I urged everyone of us not to lose hope, as God has encouraged us to go from strength to strength, be strong and courageous, that, there would be light at the end of the tunnel.”

He commended the participants for their love and faith in God’s service, humanity and prayed for everyone to encounter God’s manifold blessings in 2024.

In his welcome remarks, host and Lagos Township Superintendent, Reverend Idorenyin James, stressed the need for members to be more dedicated to God’s service, as well as respect constituted authority and ensure that there is discipline in all strata of the church. He also implored members to explore modern technology in combating insecurity in the country.

Also in his goodwill message, CEO Mission Africa (Qua Iboe Fellowship), Paul Wright, appreciated the leadership and membership of the church in Nigeria and urged everyone to remain steadfast, unmovable and ever abounding in God’s work.

Highpoints of the five-day spiritual exercise included fundraising for transformative conference projects, which was chaired by Churchill Udoh, the CEO of Westgate Global Trust Limited, ordination of new reverend ministers, special prayer for the nation/leaders, long service awards and 136th anniversary thanksgiving, among others.
