Luke 11: 28 states, “But he said, Yea rather, blessed are they that hear the word of God, and keep it”

Many believers devoted their time to hear the word of God, memorised many chapters and verses of the Bible and even preached more than others, but when it comes to application of what they have heard or read, they would be found wanting.

This inability of some Christians to keep to the totality of God’s Will, as written in the Bible has becomes a burden and reproach to the body of Christ. But the truth remains that our physical and spiritual blessings, including having a good communion with God could only be actualised by doing God’s Will.

When a certain woman proclaimed blessing upon the mother of Jesus, our Master’s respond in the above context was that if His mother had not done His will, she would have forfeited all her blessedness. This is to show that no matter what we are doing in the house of God or the position we are holding, they will not be counted for us if we do not do God’s Will.

Matt. 7:24 says, “Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: 25 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.”

A good and worthy believer is not the person who frequently hears the word of God, but the faithful doer of the word or God’s Will. He is the obedient Christian. His hope or house is in heaven that is standing on the rock, which is Christ.

Although it may be attacked by all kinds of afflicting evils, sufferings, and persecutions, but all these shall be of no effect to him for Christ is his pillar. If you want to have the listening ear of God Almighty, you must be ready to do His Will. And if you profess Christ without doing His Will, your profession may not bear good fruit because it is by their good fruit- that is application of God’s Word –that good believers are known.

Beloved, I want to let you know that manifesting great attention while reading or listening to the Scripture, and professing willingness to yield yourself to the word of God is not enough to endear you to God; rather, it is rendering actual obedience that is required from you. We must know that doing God’s Will that we have heard is the principal means by which we can affect our world in a positive way.

John 13:17 says, “If ye know these things, happy are ye if ye do them.”

If you understand that doing the will of God or practising what you preach is the easiest way to attract blessings from God, happy are you if you exemplify the same spirit in your lives. A right knowledge and practice of our duty as a believer will certainly make us happy. Let it be known to all Christians that to be a good follower of our Lord Jesus Christ, they must seriously apply themselves to the knowledge of their Master’s Will. This is because doing what we know to be our duty is the only way to true happiness, which appeals to unbelievers to fellowship with us.

Hebrew 10:7 “Then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of me,) to do thy will, O God.”

Jesus attested that He came to this world to do God’s Will not His will. So, it is very clear our Master Jesus Christ laid a solid foundation of doing the will of the Father for us to follow His example. The Scripture says He went everywhere doing the Father’s Will and thus left that legacy, so that we should emulate Him and as we do like Him, we shall be blessed in Jesus name.
