My name is David Chimdindu Obeta. I am 9years old. I am the director and CEO of Planet En Motion Company. My products are kids accessories like kiddies watches, sun glasses, kids hair band and hand made beads. My company is just two years old, as I started it in 2016.

I have always dreamt of being a well known business-man. I used to see kids’ keen interest in nice and colourful accessories, so I was like; it’s high time I actualized my dream of being a business-man and in a flash; the idea of selling accessories just came in.

Another thing I observed was that kids like me love wearing trendy accessories and I knew parents don’t always want their kids to be left out. Every parent wants their children to get on the train.

My younger sister and my parents assist me in selecting nice and trendy accessories, they assist in making research on whatever is in vogue. They also help with the sales.

My mom taught me that once I confirmed there is a market for my business, idea follows along with the step-by-step small business startup guide to work on each of the remaining steps in the small business start up process, so whenever I see new nice accessories, whenever we go out for shopping, I’ll introduce it to my business.

I advertise my products through social media and person-to-person contact (direct sales)

I have made a lot of money since I commenced the business. I made roughly #40,000 during the last kids entrepreneurship fair. My customers are kids and parents, that is, family and friends. I sell my products through exhibition and shop display and I reinvest my profit into the business.

My challenges in the business are Competition, high increase in price and economic downturn but hope that if I keep my head up, the business will improve as in few years to come I would have become a very successful young businessman (which is my major dream).

My advice to other kids who are entrepreneurs or want to start up something is that hard work pays, they should never give up on their dreams and they should utilize every opportunity that comes their way.
