The Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, has called on the church to continue to pray for the nation, adding that the effective prayer of the righteous will yield bountiful harvest to the church and the nation at large.

The Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, has called on the church to continue to pray for the nation, adding that the effective prayer of the righteous will yield bountiful harvest to the church and the nation at large.

The governor, who spoke through his Special Adviser on Religious Matters, Reverend Bukola Adeleke, at the fourth biennial congress plenary session of the African Church in Lagos, applauded the pastorate of the African Church, Lagos Province for its dedication, commitment to God’s work and church growth over the years.

Sanwo-Olu said: “Without doubt, it is God that grows a church, but the theme of this 4th biennial congress: “Let God arise and restore His church,” reflects the need for a divine intervention to reposition the church, so that, it can fulfill its original purpose of developing man in Christ-like attributes and also to transform the society to a better and more peaceful place to live.”

The governor noted that the only way for God to arise and restore His church is for the body of Christ to seek His intervention. Praying for God to arise for the family, nation and the church, Sanwo-Olu said: “As God’s people, we need to get out of our ways to do the will of God in our dealings. It is important to state that the church should continuously pray for the nation, because the effective prayer of the righteous will yield bountiful harvest to the development of the church and the nation.”

The governor assured Lagosians that his administration would be fair to all and as well work harder to ensure greater and more meaningful impact on the socio-economic welfare of all Lagosians.

He said: “The significant role played by the church, especially in promoting peace, harmony, tolerance and mutual understanding in our state cannot be over emphasised. This is vital because you will agree with me that men are God’s tools and He has been using the pastorate and fathers in this church to bless us massively.

“This congress, I believe has always provided the platform to deliberate on issues concerning the growth and development of the church as well as matters that are germane to the social, political and economic well-being of our nation. It is expected that this congress will come up with recommendations that will promote unity, peaceful cohabitation among other,” he added.
