The new Archbishop of Ibadan Ecclesiastical Province, The Most Rev. Abiodun Taiwo Olaoye and Mama Ibadan Province, Mrs. Theresa Omolara Olaoye, recently visited the Commissioner of Police, Osun State, Mr. Adewale Olokode and the Superintendent of Police, Mrs. Opalola Yemisi Olawoyin.

They also visited the Tribune House and the Olubadan of Ibadan both in Ibadan, Oyo State.

The management of the African Newspapers of Nigeria Plc., the publishers of the Tribune Newspapers gave the Archbishop and his entourage a warm welcome.

Giving his speech, the Archbishop Olaoye said the publisher of the Nigerian Tribune Newspapers, the late Chief Jeremiah Obafemi Awolowo, was and still is the parameter by which the contribution of any politician to the society is measured in the country. He commended the media house for upholding the legacy of its founder by defending the voiceless and the oppressed in the society.

Olaoye also commended the newspaper’s editorials, which he said are unbiased, objective, educative and enlightening.

Speaking on how to make the nation great again, the Archbishop enjoined all state and non-state actors to come up with solutions on how best to solve the nation’s myriad of problems, saying leaders should always put national interest above selfish and parochial interests, and also to work for the prosperity and greatness of the country.

At the Palace of Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Olalekan Balogun, the 42nd Olubadan of Ibadanland, the Archbishop noted that the Anglican Communion recognises the roles of traditional rulers in nation building, saying his visit is to commend the monarch for his efforts and also to seek on how to partner the monarch to solve some of the challenges in the society.
