Oyekpen, Onoraro task Warri Knights on transformation

The Diocesan Bishop of Akoko-Edo, Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion), Rt. Rev. Jolly Oyekpen has enjoined the Council of Knights of the Diocese of Warri, Delta State, to know that they are saved to save others and positively impact the world.

Addressing the participants at the 11th edition of their yearly retreat at Ibru Ecumenical Centre, Agbarha-motor, Delta State from July 7 to 9, 2022 with the theme: “God’s Word To God’s World: Winning Your World Through The Word,” Oyekpen said that the world is in dire need of the word, especially with what is happening these days in the country and in the world at large.

He urged them to make use of their endowments, resources and blessings to transform the world and warned against taking advantage of others.

The Bishop who was also the guest speaker at the event said: “We have the responsibility of reaching out to others with the word of God. It is an anomaly to encounter Christ and remain very comfortable with sinners. Every opportunity should be used to impact others. We must be agents of transformation if we have really received the words of God.”

The cleric noted that it is by the word that the world could be changed, adding that the word is true because it provides safety, salvation, spiritual strength, and good counsel, aside from revealing, refuting, and reviving.

Those who need the word, according to him, include family members, friends, associates and work colleagues.

He urged the knights to preach the word through their lifestyle and resources.

The Knights Chaplain, Ven. Michael Onaroro, who on behalf of his Bishop, Rt Rev. Christian Ideh, led the knights to the retreat, delivered the Bishop’s message and urged the participants to utilise the opportunity of the retreat for their spiritual advancement and to become useful in God’s hand.

Onoraro disclosed that the world was created through the instrumentality of God’s word and that any violation of the word would result in destruction of the world.
