According to the District Governor, Kola Sodipo, the programme was held to encourage the students with a view to expanding their knowledge
in English language, develop their vocabulary and speaking ability.“What is important is the spirit of participation as we believe there is no end to learning. We build these young ones in their various schools, through our succession plan, who move from Interactors to Rotaractors and eventually become Rotarians. We believe in catching them young” he said.

The Chairman, District Interact Committee, Past President Kate Wilkie said the programme was held to enable the students showcase their ability and potentials.“This programme which includes Interact representative nomination falls under ‘Basic Education and Literacy” one of our six areas of focus in Rotary with interactors within the age bracket of 12 and 18 from eight schools. We had sixteen contestants.

They are under the tutelage of sponsor’s clubs that have meetings with them from time to time. We have about 403 interactors in different schools that are potential Rotarians after becoming Rotaractors” she said. Okpala in her comment, said she was already good in spelling as a student of English language.

“Despite the fact that English Language is my best subject, on hearing about this competition, my teacher and I, went on the internet for research and I am happy the effort yielded positive. “I feel very good and proud as a student of my school” she said.
