The Taraba state government has intensified its drive to attract foreign investment with a high-level engagement with European business executives and prospective investors in Istanbul, Türkiye.
The engagement, which forms part of the state government’s ongoing efforts to expand economic opportunities, as gathered by The Guardia, focused on showcasing Taraba’s investment potential in agriculture, agro-processing, value-chain development, natural resources and other emerging sectors.
In a statement made available to media practitioners on Friday in Jalingo, the Special Adviser to the governor on Digital Economy, Justin Aondoaseer Tyopuusu, said the delegation also explored opportunities for partnerships capable of attracting private-sector investment, creating employment opportunities and strengthening local production across the state.
The investment drive, access to him, is being undertaken under the leadership of governor Agbu Kefas and is aligned with his administration’s Moving Forward Agenda as well as the recently launched Taraba Regional Development Plan.
According to Tyopuusu, the engagement was aimed at positioning Taraba as an attractive destination for sustainable investment and strategic business partnerships.
“The state government is seeking to leverage its comparative advantages, particularly in agriculture and natural resources, to deepen economic activities and stimulate value addition within the state”, Tyopuusu stated.
The officials, he said, are expected to continue their investment engagements in Europe as part of efforts to identify prospective investors and develop partnerships that could contribute to Taraba’s economic growth.
“Following the engagements in Türkiye, the delegation is expected to proceed to Spain for further discussions with prospective investors before returning to Nigeria.
The state government has continued to emphasise its readiness to work with private investors and development partners in driving sustainable economic development,” He noted.
The engagement in Europe is therefore expected to strengthen Taraba’s international investment profile while opening new opportunities for businesses, job creation and increased production in the state, Tyopuusu concluded.
