Vice-Chancellor, University of Calabar (UNICAL) Zana Akpagu has advised newly inducted doctors of the institution to practice here owing to a shortage of healthcare professionals in the country.

Vice Chancellor of the University of Calabar (UNICAL), Prof. Zana Akpagu, said the initiative, which began seven years ago, came with a vision to build Africa scientifically, academically, technologically and humanistically by Africans.

To them, the law establishing the university never envisaged power to be handed over to the chair of the committee of deans. Consequently, they petitioned the Chairman of the Governing Council, Senator Nkechi Nwaogu, to look into the matter.
