Glo gets more data subscriber acquisitions in June

Globacom, in June, garnered 86 per cent of the total number of new Internet subscribers in the month of June.

The company had an additional 272,674 out of the industry’s recorded growth of 318,008 new Internet subscribers on the network of the four major telecoms operators.

According to a report by the industry regulator, Globacom added 272,647 subscribers in June. The network consequently had a total of 26,628,065 Internet subscribers at the end of June.

Airtel came second on the regulator’s growth register as it added a total of 17,325,423 subscribers in June from 17,280,089 which it recorded in May, meaning that
Airtel added 45,334 new internet subscribers by the end of June.

Etisalat recorded a loss of 254,511 from May when it posted 15,508,024. The network closed the month of June with 15,253,513 Internet subscribers.

According to the report, MTN Nigeria recorded a total of 32,974,177 in June, down from the 33,108,786 Internet subscribers that the company had in May. MTN suffered a loss of 134,609 within the month under review.

Consequent on this report, Globacom is the beneficiary of about 86 percent of the total Internet subscriber acquisitions in the telecoms market in the month of June.

The frenetic growth recorded in the area of acquisition of new Internet subscribers by Globacom has been linked to the broad bouquet of innovative products and services the company has introduced in recent times. One of the products is Jollific8, which gives subscribers an unprecedented eight times the value of their recharge.
