Huawei champions digital transformation in Nigeria’s hospitality industry

Huawei Nigeria, an information and communications technology firm, has rallied hotel industry leaders to explore and adopt the use of cutting-edge technology to transform hotel management in the country.

The company stated this at the Smart Hotel Solutions Conference to unveil its groundbreaking hotel management innovations aimed at accelerating the digital and intelligent transformation within the hospitality sector.

Speaking at the event, the Director of Huawei Commercial & Distribution Sales Dept, Vito Zhao, said the innovation was timely for the hospitality sector in Nigeria.

He expressed the firm’s commitment to reshaping the country’s hospitality sector with smart technology that can reduce operational costs, increase revenue, enhance guest satisfaction, and give a competitive edge in the dynamic market.

He emphasised that the benefits of the technology are transformative, noting that the solutions are designed to deliver an exceptional experience for guests.

Also, the Convener of the Hotel Managers Conference Africa, Olugbenga Sunday, noted that the world of hotel management is undergoing a major transformation, urging leaders in the hospitality industry to harness the power of technology to create exceptional guest experiences while achieving operational excellence.

He added that while Nigeria stands at the forefront of the revolution, there is a need to develop the necessary infrastructure to meet the growing expectations of guests.

He said: “Today’s hotel guest is fundamentally different from the guest of even five years ago. They arrive with smartphones in hand, expecting seamless connectivity, personalised service, and frictionless experiences from check-in to check-out. They control room settings through apps or voice commands, sharing their experiences instantly on social media platforms.”

He therefore warned that Hotels that cannot meet these expectations will not survive.
“The hotels that will capture market share are those that build lasting guest loyalty and deliver superior experiences through intelligent technology,” he stressed.
“When guests check in through their mobile phones, when rooms automatically adjust temperature and lighting to their preferences, when hotel staff receive instant alerts without intrusive inquiries, when all guests feel truly seen, that is when magic happens. That is when good hotels become great hotels. That is when guests become loyal advocates.”

Sunday urged participants to adopt Huawei’s cutting-edge smart hotel solutions, which can revolutionise every aspect of operations, from guest services to energy management, from security systems to revenue optimisation.

During the event, Huawei CTO, Huawei Southern Africa Region, Matamela Aubrey Mashau, and Senior Solutions Architect, Huawei Nigeria Rep Office,

Olayemi Joseph, presented the Xinghe high-quality hotel network solution and integrated CCTV/FTTR solution for the hotels. The solutions are powered by all scenario Wi-Fi7 to provide seamless wireless coverage for hotel rooms/lobby/gym/parking lots.

The Channel State Information (CSI) feature is one of the highlights from Xinghe High-Quality network solution – it transforms the traditional hotel room into a fully intelligent room without the need to deploy separate sensors. The Anti-Peeping feature from the Wi-Fi 7 Access Point also ensures that guests’ privacy is 100% protected. The integrated CCTV and FTTR solution allows the hotel owners to deploy a green and energy-saving hotel with better ROI.

The event featured presentations from partners such as Radisson Blu, August Resources, 21st Century Evolution System, and Valinno BioduxPMS, with live demonstrations and case studies showcasing successful implementations.
