The Zamfara State Government has entered into a strategic partnership with global technology giant Oracle to promote youth development, workforce training, and digital transformation across the state.
The agreement, formalised at Oracle’s offices in London, United Kingdom, was signed by Governor Dauda Lawal, who led a delegation of senior government officials, including the Secretary to the State Government, two Special Advisers, and the Executive Secretary of the Zamfara Information Technology Development Agency (ZITDA). Oracle’s Country Leader for the United Kingdom and Senior Vice President for EMEA, Siobhan Wilson, was also present.
According to a statement issued by the governor’s spokesperson, Sulaiman Bala Idris, the collaboration falls under Oracle University’s global Skills Development Initiative (SDI) and Oracle Academy. It is aimed at empowering young people, strengthening institutional capacity, and accelerating digital literacy and job creation in Zamfara State.
The partnership will see ZITDA working closely with Oracle to integrate Oracle Academy’s offerings into the curricula of higher education institutions in Zamfara. These offerings include access to curriculum content, training resources, and software tools to support students and educators in acquiring practical tech skills aligned with international certification standards.
“ZITDA will support efforts to embed Oracle’s educational resources across higher learning institutions in Zamfara,” the statement read. “Educators will be equipped with the tools needed to prepare students for professional certifications in key digital areas, nurturing a new generation of tech-driven leaders.”
In addition, Oracle University will launch a co-branded Learning Portal in collaboration with ZITDA, giving eligible learners free access to digital courses and professional certifications. The platform will offer over 200 hours of curated training in in-demand sectors such as cloud computing, artificial intelligence, data science, and APEX development.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Governor Lawal described the partnership as a bold step towards realising his administration’s vision of making Zamfara a hub of innovation and digital advancement.
“This collaboration is about more than just technology. It is about creating hope, generating opportunities, and unlocking the future,” Lawal stated. “We are offering real alternatives to poverty, unemployment, and despair by investing in digital education and innovation.”
He further pledged that the initiative would serve as a bridge to a more inclusive economy. “Today, we are not merely signing a document—we are making a promise. A promise that every child in Zamfara will have the opportunity to dream, learn, and succeed. Zamfara will not just take part in the digital revolution—we will lead it,” the governor declared.
