Techbridgers to train 250 Oyo students in ICT

The Techbridgers initiative is set to launch its Cohort 9.0 training programme, offering free ICT training to 250 secondary school students in Oyo.

The programme will commence on July 28th and run for two weeks, from Mondays to Saturdays, at four designated centers: Olivet Baptist High School Oyo, Ladigbolu Grammar School Oyo, ADS High School Opapa, and Alafin High School Oyo.

The Project Coordinator, Mr. Yinka Ojo, expressed his excitement about the program, highlighting its prospects for the kids.

“Our goal is to equip these students with the necessary ICT skills to thrive in today’s technology-driven world,” he said.

Engineer Tunde Jimoh, one of the co-founders of Techbridgers, emphasized the importance of exposing children to ICT, given the rapid advancements in AI and technology that are reshaping the global economy.

“We believe that by providing these students with ICT skills, we are empowering them to take advantage of the opportunities that technology has to offer,” he added.

As a non-profit organization, Techbridgers has been running this training programme since 2021, and to date, it has trained more than 2000 students in public secondary schools in Oyo and Saki towns. This initiative aims to bridge the digital divide and provide students with the skills they need to succeed in an increasingly technology-driven world.

One of the beneficiaries of the programme, Eden Iyanda, shared his transformative experience, saying, “The Techbridgers program has been a game-changer for me. It has not only equipped me with valuable ICT skills but has also opened doors to new opportunities and career paths that I never thought possible.”

Another student, Ramata Abdullahi from ADS High School Opapa, echoed similar sentiments, “I never believed I could be good at computers until I participated in the Techbridgers training two years ago. The program opened my eyes to the opportunities that ICT offers, and I am grateful for the experience.”

With Cohort 9.0, Techbridgers is set to empower another group of students with the knowledge and skills to thrive in the digital age.
