What kind of engineers is Nigerian university producing? This “Engr.” Gbenga Adebayo, chairman, Association of Licensed Telecommunications Operators of Nigeria (ALTON) is not a qualified engineer because even a third rate engineering STUDENT knows that 5km radius and 5 square km (km^2) are NOT THE SAME THING!!! 5km radius is: pi x r^2 = 3.142 x (5 x 5)) = 78.54 square km!. So Nigeria needs 11,597 cell towers and we are at 26,000? What this engineer from Oluwole failed to mention is that each cell tower can only handle a fixed amount of calls, so you may need multiple cell sites in a 5km radius.
He is also wrong about the coverage radius, it is 5 MILES, which is 8KM.
Hope we engineers can be more accurate in the information we give the public.
We also took an oath, kind of a hippocratic oath to give the best design at the lowest cost with the most simple process.

NB I’m a Mech. Engineer, not a communications, Electronic or microwave engineer which i assume this fool is.
