Wakanow boss bags award

MANAGING Director of Wakanow, Obinna Ekezie, has been honoured with the West African Entrepreneur of the Year Award for 2015, at the AABLA Awards organised by All Africa Business Leaders Awards (AABLA) in partnership with the CNBC Africa.

The event, which in Lagos, had in attendance Emir of Kano and former Central Bank governor, Lamido Sanusi Lamido, former governor of Ekiti State, Dr Kayode Fayemi and several notable business leaders across the continent.

Recently recognised as one of the fastest growing online companies in the country by the Tony Elumelu Foundation, in alliance with the All World Networks of the United Kingdom, Wakanow, an online travel agency (OTA) has 21 travel centres in Nigeria and plans to open another 20 offices around the world over the next two years.

The AABLA/CNBC awards sets out to honour remarkable leadership and salutes game changers in businesses on the continent for their continuing commitment to excellence, developing best practices and innovative strategies.

Ekezie, in his brief remarks described his firm’s journey as a fulfilment of a dream for a better travel experience for Nigerians and Africans at large, and made a commitment to continuing on the path of the core values of AABLA towards exemplary leadership, strength, innovation, ingenuity, knowledge and foresight in leading the outfit to realising its ambition of being a major building block of the African economy.
