isis-black-700x394The Islamic State group claimed on Tuesday its first attack on US soil, a shooting at an anti-Muslim event in Texas over the weekend showcasing cartoons mocking the Prophet Mohammed.

“Two of the soldiers of the caliphate executed an attack on an art exhibit in Garland, Texas, and this exhibit was portraying negative pictures of the Prophet Mohammed,” the jihadist group said.

“We tell America that what is coming will be even bigger and more bitter, and that you will see the soldiers of the Islamic State do terrible things,” the group announced.

It was the first time IS claimed to have carried out an attack in the US.

Police said two men drove up to the conference centre Sunday in Garland, Texas, where the right-wing American Freedom Defense Initiative was organising the controversial cartoon contest, and began shooting at a security guard.

Garland police officers then shot and killed both men.

According to US media reports, the two suspected jihadists were Elton Simpson, 31, and Nadir Soofi, 34, who shared an apartment in Phoenix, Arizona.

Simpson was being investigated by the FBI over alleged plans to travel to Somalia to wage holy war, court records show.

Many Muslims find drawings of the prophet to be disrespectful or outright blasphemous, and such cartoons have been cited by Islamists as motivation in several previous attacks.

Thankfully, no innocent lives were lost in the attack.. The security agent acted timely to foil what would have been a very disastrous incident. The Islamic state has no moral justification to back up their savagery act though, but still I think there is need to start exercising maximum cautionary approach while showcasing all these satirical acts capable of inciting terrorism and religious radicalism, especially by the westernized world. Acting under the guise of freedom of expression to abuse other people’s faith is absolutely baseless. Isil, we know don’t have genuine ground to base its filthy ideology on. Every religion needs to be respected so that filthy elements would not have to keep using these religions to perpetrate all manner of despicable acts against their fellow human beings.

People have said all types of nasty things about Jesus Christ (one of such was the statement from Nasir El-Rufai, governor-elect of Kaduna State); cartoons and movies lampooning Christ and Mary Magdalene have been in circulation for years now. Why did Christians also not take up knives and arms to start slaughtering every non-Christian around the world?

Agreed, THERE ARE VERY DECENT, HONOURABLE MUSLIMS ACROSS THE WORLD, but why is it always Islam that kills at any slightest provocation? Ironically, that is a religion of PEACE! Honestly, except we mature to the extent of tolerance of one another, the whole world would know no peace.
