Dansol High School rewards best teacher with N1 million, other prizes

Physical and Health Education teacher, Mr. Wesley Orioha, has emerged the “Best Teacher of the Year,” for Dansol High School, Agidingbi, Lagos State.
At an event held recently to mark the “2016 World Teachers Day,” Orioha also got a cash prize of N1m, as a reward for his steadfastness and dedication to his duty.
The event, which had its theme, “Valuing Teachers, Improving Their Status,” Orioha who has served the school for 15 years, attributed his accomplishments to God’s divine grace and enablement.
“I am very grateful to the school management as well as the pupils, for this great honour done to me. I am very happy and I feel really honoured. The pupils are fantastic, they are always ready for me, and we have a very good relationship. I love kids, I love teaching and I love imparting knowledge and morals to young ones.”
Mr. Olakunle Gbadamosi, and Miss Mojisola Olatunbosun, who finished in second and third places, also received a cash prize of N500, 000 and N250, 000 respectively.
In the primary category, the top three winners got N500, 000, N250, 000 and N200, 000 in that order. Explaining the rationale behind the yearly celebration, Proprietress of the school, Mrs. Adun Akinyemiju maintained that teachers as nation builders must be rightly equipped, and encouraged in order for them to bring out their best.
