MACCI seeks implementation of climate change action plan

Media Advocacy on Climate Change Initiative (MACCI) has urged Minister of Environment, Muhammad Mahmood, to consider climate change as an integral element of national priority.

It also advocated formation of a common ground for adaptation of all activities required to mitigate the impact of climate change on the nation’s economy and livelihood of citizens.

Its Executive Director, Victor Emeruwa, who stated this yesterday, observed that Nigeria was slow in adapting measures to mitigate the impact of climate change.

He cautioned that Nigeria faces a huge risk if nothing was done to urgently reverse the consequences of climate change already manifesting through extreme flooding and shortage of water in the Lake Chad region causing conflicts between herdsmen and farmers.
