Immigration begins issuance of new e-passport

With the unveiling of the enhanced e-Passport Centre, Kano has joined Ikoyi-Lagos and the Service Headquarters as locations where eligible Nigerians can procure the 10-year validity Passport.

The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) yesterday said it had begun issuance of the new enhanced e-passport at its Kano main passport office.

The information was contained in a statement issued by the service’s public relations officer, Sunday James.

The e-passport, which was presented to Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje and his wife during the official rollout of the travel document in the ancient city, has additional 25 security features, including the National Identity Number (NIN).

The governor applauded the introduction of technology in the entire process.

Representative of Comptroller General Muhammed Babandede at the event, ACG T.V. Oyedeji, said the introduction of the document was for national security and ease of doing business.
