Group hails Kukah’s steadfastness
The National Facilitator, United Patriots Assembly of Nigeria (UPAN), Aiyamenkhue Edokpolo, yesterday urged caution in the way and manner politics is been played concerning the comments of Bishop Hassan Kukah regarding the President Muhammadu Buhari administration.
Edokpolo, who described the cleric’s comments as a “clarion call,” said Kukah’s position should not be mistaken for incitement or treasonable outbursts.
In a statement made available to journalists in Benin City, Edokpolo said a number of factors clearly explains the persistence of the plethora of challenges and clarion calls by statesmen in the calibre of Kukah, saying such comments should not be “mistaken for incitement or treasonable outbursts.”
“It is on this note that we rise to condemn the disingenuous and highly despicable press statements against the highly venerated Catholic bishop by some ethnic war mongers and which tend to threaten our fragile national cohesion.
“We commend the Presidency for its clear dissociation from the press statements, which were borne out from crass parochiality and portend a great disservice to Buhari’s administration.
“The tasks of rebuilding Nigeria from the ruins of past administrations encapsulate a whole lot of patriotic interrogation, like Kukah did, as well as nationalistic cross pollination of germane perspectives and roadmap.”
