Kanu’s special counsel, Mr Aloy Ejimakor, said that the suit was filed by a Kenyan law firm, Luchiri Associates, on his behalf.
Ejimakor told The Guardian that “Kanu entered Kenya with his British passport, so, he ought not to have been brought to Nigeria for any reason without a valid court order for his extradition.”
According to him, those who masterminded the extradition to Nigeria grossly violated his human rights.
He stressed that Kanu cannot be lawfully prosecuted by the federal government unless the issue of his extraordinary rendition is first resolved judicially.
