Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Ibrahim Tanko Muhammad, has said it will not be out of place for lawyers to subject judges to criticism, where necessary, with a view to improving the justice delivery system.

He, however, said such criticism must be offered in good faith and objectively.

The CJN spoke in Abuja during the 40th anniversary of his call-to-bar alongside some justices of the Supreme Court, Court of Appeal, judges and senior lawyers.

He said lawyers and justices must cooperate to ensure quick dispensation of justice and advance its delivery.

He said: “As critical stakeholders in the task of justice delivery, you have the responsibility of drawing our attention to where things are going wrong or on the verge of going wrong.”

You have the onerous task of guiding those of us on the bench because we must not fall, as your representatives on the bench.”
