Tragedy was averted yesterday when protective railings prevented a truck loaded with plywood from falling off the Ojuelegba Bridge and hitting other cars.
The incident, which led to a heavy gridlock, occurred a few weeks after a trailer fell from the same bridge and landed on cars, killing a driver.
The truck fell while plying the bridge, but the railings of the bridge held the container from falling on vehicles below the bridge.
  Â
The truck bearing the container tilted after climbing the bridge and the container fell.
Â
It took a few hours before officers of the Lagos State Traffic State Management Authority (LASTMA) came to remove the truck from the busy road.
