The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), yesterday, sensitised Lagos drivers on road safety measures.
The event was organised by Lagos State Chairman, Tricycle Owners and Operators Association of Nigeria and Chief Executive Officer of Azeez Abiola & Sons Nig. Ltd., Abdul-Azeez Abiola (Istijabah), in collaboration with FRSC and LASTMA.
The Outpost Commander of FRSC in Ikotun, Toyin Ladipo, advised drivers to maintain their speed limit to avoid accidents, obtain a valid driver’s licence and avoid route violations while driving.
In the same vein, LASTMA Deputy Comptroller Operations, Onabanjo Adegbayi, said road accidents had been on steady increase because most drivers’ attention are often diverted from the road.
He identified talking or texting on mobile phones as a cause of road accidents.
Adegbayi further educated the drivers on overloading, traffic signs, safety, emergencies, road lanes, wrongful overtaking, driving on the walkway, Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) lane violation, smoking while driving and accidents.
Meanwhile, Lagos State Chairman, TOOAN, Alhaji Abdul-Azeez Abiola (istijabah), has mandated his staffs to obtain their Permanent Voters Card (PVC) and participate actively in the 2023 general elections as part of the step in planning their future
“I want a good government in this coming election that’s why I made it compulsory to my staffs in the transport business, school, fuel station, and my mission towards 2023 general election is that everyone must obtain their PVC because we will decide who we want in this country with the use of our voter’s card” He said
He urged the drivers and entire staffs to take advantage of the registration to obtain their PVCs, in order to be eligible to exercise their rights, contribute to nation-building and plan for their future
