THE Zamfara State gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Alhaji Sani Abdullahi Shinkafi has rejected the results of the state’s governorship and House of Assembly elections announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) last Monday.

He described the result as a conspiracy between the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led government, INEC and security operatives in the state.

Addressing a press conference at his residence in Gusau, the state capital, the APGA candidate said what happened on April 11th in Zamfara State does not qualify to be called an election but rather electoral coup executed by the Governor Abdul’Azeez Yari Abubakar-led administration in collaboration with the Independent National Electoral Commission with support of security agencies.

He said after due consultations with APGA stakeholders in the state, the party resolved to challenge the election before the election tribunal to seek for cancellation of the polls, due to massive rigging.

“The All Progressive Grand Alliance and the Wambai Campaign Committee 2015 (WAMCACO) rejects the results of Zamfara State governorship and state House of Assembly elections declared by INEC. The outcome of the election results is unacceptable, this is because there were widespread fraud, conspiracy and collusion between INEC, the police, the military and Abdul’Azeez Yari regime, which led to large scale rigging,” he said.

Shinkafi also alleged that in some areas of the state the card readers were not used, which allowed for the manipulation of the elections.

“The election was a charade, because there was intimidation of voters, destruction of election results and other coordinated crimes by thugs and vigilante group popularly known as ‘Yansakai’, therefore, the so called re-election of Abdul’Azeez Yari is laughable,” he stated.

He added that a day to the election and based on intelligence report by his campaign committee, a letter personally signed by him was delivered to the state Commissioner of Police and other security heads intimating them about the plan by the state government to rig the election, but no action was taken to prevent it.

“I will fight this injustice. We are set and after full consultation with stakeholders at all levels, we will soon come up with a definite path for justice, liberty and peace for the good people of Zamfara State,” he assured.
