EMIR of Ilorin, Dr. Ibrahim Sulu Gambari, has observed that developments in the country’s electoral system have made voters to look out for only responsible politicians during elections.

The monarch spoke in Ilorin, Kwara State, at the weekend, when the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Kwara Central Senatorial District, Saliu Mustapha, visited his palace.

He reminded Mustapha, who is also the Turaki of Ilorin, that politicians’ antecedents guide the electorate in making their choices, stressing that apart from his qualification for the position of senator, the APC candidate has shown empathy for the people through his philanthropy.

Dr. Gambari stated: “You are a true blue blood, who has contributed to the development of the state. We will certainly give you our mandate to represent us. In line with your Turaki title, which is synonymous to an ambassador, we are sending you to the senate as our representative to do our bidding.”

Thanking the monarch for the fatherly counsel and endorsement, the senatorial hopeful had told Gambari that he decided to pay homage and seek royal blessings before the commencement of his campaign.
