The Southwest Women Leader of New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Princess Adebowale Teniola, has stated it was time for women to shine in all sector of governance, while expressing confidence that the presidential candidate of the party, Rabiu Kwankwaso, will give women 40 per cent in his administration if he wins in 2023.
Teniola, who spoke at NNPP women summit, tagged: ‘Lagos State Women for Kwankwaso,’ noted that a strong nation is built when all the people irrespective of their gender are well educated and knowledgeable in policy making.
She noted that any attempt to keep women away from development would stem plans to move the nation forward; saying that discrimination against women especially in politics must stop.
Teniola lamented that women are fully recognised when it comes to politics, adding that the skills, information, talent and self-confidence that make women unique must not be dampened.
The women leader said that if Kwankwaso emerges as president, the fortune of women would turn around, noting that the NNPP presidential candidate is passionate about their plight.
Teniola said Kwankwaso’s administration would give women enough recognition that would better their lots and their families especially in the area of security, education and economy.
“Women will constructively contribute immensely towards winning an election hands down. Women have been the ones who are doing so much campaigning and canvassing behind the scene but unfortunately, they are not credited for it.
“Women play an important and integral role in politics for candidates to emerge as winners. We are not failures, but winners. We need to be valued and appreciated and our voices need to be heard and this can be done by putting women in positions of power, where we get to make decisions and bring about development in the country,” she said.
