Oke promises to revive moribund industries

The governorship candidate of the Alliance for Democracy (AD), Olusola Oke, has promised to revive the moribund industries in the state to create employment.

The candidate, who spoke at a campaign rally in Idanre at the weekend, blamed unemployment for the rising crime in the state.

According to him, the current government of Olusegun Mimiko had abandoned the economic and industrial policies of his predecessor in office.

He said: “Ondo State has no business with joblessness and poverty. God has greatly endowed the state with resources and the AD would put them to use for the benefit of our people.”

Oke said there were many agro-allied industries and life transforming projects, which haD been neglected over the years.

He listed them as Olokola project, Cocoa Processing Company, Ile Oluji, Cassava Processing, Ikoya; Fisheries, Akure and Alfa 3D, Ikare Akoko.

The candidate accused politicians of deliberately creating poverty through anti-people policies to use the unemployed youths for electoral violence.

He promised to encourage farmers with implements, while creating an enabling environment to attract investors to the state.

Oke promised that his administration would complete the Owena multi-purpose dam to supply water to the central senatorial district. He added that when completed, the dam would also serve the tourists’ city and the golf course, which was started by the Olusegun Agagu’s administration.

Oke visited some traditional rulers in the area to hear their needs.

Among them are the Owa of Idanre, Fredrick Aroloye, the Aladeokun of Alade, Olusegun Akinbola, the Awosunye of Atosin-Idanre, Gilbert Ogunlowo and the Alajowa of Ajowaland, Sunday Akinbo.

The monarchs prayed for peaceful polls and urged the candidate to establish a tertiary institution in Idanre if elected.
