Unlock your limitations- Part 4

We shall consider today, “The Power Of The Mind.” It is the third power that can limit a man. Your mind is very important to God. Prov 23:7 says: “As a man thinketh in his heart, so he is.” You cannot be greater than your mind. If you are given a big idea or vision and your mind is too small to handle the vision, that vision will never come to pass. In fact, you will struggle to the point of frustration. Some people are intimidated by big things. Eph 3:20 tells us that God is able to do beyond our request and our thoughts. This means, we can limit God with small mindset but if you are able to stretch your thoughts then you can get much more from God.

A young man went fishing and caught a very big fish. After examining it carefully, he threw it back to the river. An elderly man standing by who observed the scene asked the young man, why he did what he did. The young man said that his frying pan is too small to contain the fish so he wants to look for a smaller fish that will be the size of his frying pan. A lot of people are just like the young man; they will not think of getting a bigger frying pan that will contain a big fish. You should learn to develop a big mindset that will accommodate whatever big vision or ideas that God gives to you.

In Isaiah 54:1-3, God is trying to expand the mindset of man. He said the one who is termed barren should picture the many children she has even more than the person who is married. He went further, in the second verse, to say that in increasing your capacity, it is better to increase your tent because a big tent cannot fit into a small place, which is likened to your mind.

People tend to believe more of what they see than what they hear. When you hear God speaks, that is information, but when you see that is revelation. Revelation helps to expand your mindset. Sometimes in life when God gives you ideas, if your mind is too small for it, you tend to reject it claiming that it is not workable. Some people for instance think that you must be very rich before you can buy a plot of land and build your own house. I know of a woman who runs a roadside mini restaurant and she gradually built her house from the proceeds of her small business. It is all about the mindset and what you think is what you become, so, think big from today.

There are three aspects of the mind; the conscious, semi-conscious, and subconscious parts. The subconscious part is where we often store information and it is controlled by different factors. The first of them is your environment hence God told Abraham to leave his environment. The second factor is what you hear, see or read and the third is the people you associate with. If you live in an environment of non-achievers or associate with negative people, you cannot make any meaningful thing out of life.
