Encourages citizens to enrol in free ‘Bello Healthcare Plus’

Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, has procured additional 21 ambulances for rural hospitals across the state to enhance healthcare. The Toyota Hiace high roof buses are equipped with patient and driver cabin intercom, oxygen supply system, portable and rechargeable suction machines, first aid boxes with emergency drugs, fire extinguishers, wash hand basins, among others.

According to Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Onogwu Mohammed, the buses are also equipped with electrical systems, vinyl flooring, wall-mounted sphygmomanometers, and flexible examination lights.

Inspecting the Basic Life-Support Ambulances, Bello urged Kogi citizens and residents to enrol in the Bello Healthcare Plus initiative, which is free of charge.  He emphasised that his administration would continue to prioritise the people’s well-being, as a healthy population is crucial for meaningful development.

Bello Healthcare Plus package includes free distribution of delivery kits, post-partum haemorrhage packs, hypertensive packs, episiotomy packs and free maternal/newborn healthcare to pregnant women from economically disadvantaged backgrounds.

In addition to these efforts, President Muhammadu Buhari inaugurated Reference Hospital in Okene last December.  The state government has also commissioned medical facilities in parts of the state, further enhancing healthcare accessibility.

Alongside the Bello Healthcare Plus, the state introduced health insurance scheme, providing free healthcare to the people.
Kogi Care intervention is another significant achievement of the Bello-led administration.
