Babagana Zulum

The Borno State government has disclosed that it would complete the construction of the Police, Immigration and Customs barracks in the state to boost trans-border trade with Cameroon and Chad in the Lake Chad region.

The barracks and offices to be completed by the Babagana Zulum administration are situated in the border areas of Ngala Local Council of the state.

While inspecting projects in Gambouru area of the state, yesterday, the Governor said: “Besides the barracks and an International Cattle Market (ICAM), the Central Primary School, Teachers Housing Estate and Vocational Training Centre will also be completed this year.”

He said the completion of the projects in Ngala Local Council would ensure the establishment of civil authorities to enhance trans-border trade with the neighbouring countries in the Lake Chad region.

His words: “I am here to assess the structural facilities that are being constructed by the state government. Their completion will ensure the establishment of civil authorities to protect people’s lives and property.

“The trans-border trade and other economic activities of herders and farmers will be boosted to create more job opportunities in the border areas of the region.”

While inspecting the ICAM, he also directed the construction of additional shopping malls, livestock sheds and an abattoir to ensure the sale of healthy and safe meat to the public.

On the completion of Gambouru vocational training centre, he directed the construction of additional departments before the recruitment of tutors.
