A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council, Dr Musa Illiyasu Kwankwaso, has declared that the North-West has demonstrated its support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid, citing the massive turnout at the party’s presidential campaign flag-off in Kaduna.
Kwankwaso, who spoke to journalists on the sidelines of the VIP Pavilion at the rally, described the gathering as a clear demonstration of northern support for Tinubu ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
He said the Kaduna rally had dispelled lingering doubts about the political direction of the North-West, insisting that the region remained committed to the President’s second-term ambition.
“Today, we of the North-West geopolitical zone have spoken loud and clear on who we stand for. Our choice of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu remains our commitment to a better Nigeria and national cohesion,” Kwankwaso said.
He argued that the significance of the rally extended beyond political mobilisation, saying it also conveyed a message about the need for cooperation among Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones to promote national development.
According to him, Tinubu’s administration offered an opportunity to strengthen equitable development and ensure that national resources were fairly distributed across the country.
“Tinubu’s presidency stands for fair and equitable distribution of resources to all zones, and his return will be a blessing to the greater Nigeria of our dream,” he said.
Kwankwaso dismissed suggestions that northern support for Tinubu was merely transactional, insisting that the region had a responsibility to honour its political commitment as the country approaches the next general election.
He described Tinubu as the North’s preferred candidate and expressed confidence that supporters in the region would mobilise behind the President at the polls.
“Asiwaju is the northern candidate, and he will not promote anything outside his ambition because we are trustworthy people, and we shall deliver him come 2027,” he declared.
The APC chieftain urged political stakeholders across the country to view the emerging support for Tinubu through the prism of national unity and collective progress rather than narrow political interests.
He maintained that the turnout at the Kaduna campaign flag-off reflected the commitment of Tinubu’s supporters in the North-West, while expressing confidence that the region would sustain its mobilisation ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
