Again, Nigerian Army affirms commitment to constitution, democracy

Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant-General Taoreed Lagbaja, yesterday, reiterated commitment of the Nigerian army to principles enshrined in the Nigerian Constitution and democratic norms.
  
Lagbaja disclosed this during the Nigeria Army Combat Support Arms Training (COSAT) Week, held at International Culture and Event Centre (The Dome), Akure, the Ondo State capital.
   
He underscored the significance of the army’s role in ensuring protection of democratic order, saying this cannot be overemphasized.
   
He also affirmed that the army has been diligently carrying out its duties, effectively ensuring Nigerians can sleep soundly with a sense of security.
   
He added: “The critical importance of COSAT has consistently been on the rise since the Nigerian civil war, and we have continued to encourage professionalism. Today’s gathering brings about most of our renowned brains to chart a new way forward as warfare is constantly evolving.”
   
Speaking with newsmen on the sidelines of the event, Lagbaja said the army, being a professional and dynamic force, is constantly exploring avenues to improve efficiency and effective delivery of security in every theatre of operation.
