Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers, yesterday, invaded the farm of a former Senator representing Kwara South in the National Assembly, Simeon Suleiman Ajibola, and killed his relative and farm’s supervisor, Biodun Ajibola.
The Guardian gathered that Ajibola was murdered while trying to resist the hoodlums’ attempt to abduct him in the farm located in Isapa, Ekiti Local Council of Kwara State.
The gunmen allegedly stormed the farm at about 8:00a.m.
A family source said the kidnappers could not whisk away one Felix Segun Adeleye, a driver attached to the supervisor, when they sighted some motorcyclists coming in their direction.
The source explained that the kidnappers abandoned the driver, who had been injured on his leg and pursued the motorcyclists.
It was, however, not clear whether the hoodlums eventually abducted the motorcyclists after giving them a hot chase.
“Thank God that Senator Ajibola was not around. Perhaps their intention was to take him away. But the supervisor in charge of the farm was not lucky as he was killed when the kidnappers invaded the farm.”
“Senator Ajibola’s driver attached to the late supervisor was wounded and he is currently in the hospital in Ilorin receiving treatment,” the source added.
Asked how he knew that the gunmen were kidnappers, the source said: “The driver told me that they attempted to take him away after killing the supervisor, but they abandoned him when they saw some motorcyclists.”
The Guardian learnt that the remains of the supervisor have been evacuated, while the incident has been reported at Osi Police Divisional Headquarters in Ekiti Local Council.
Spokesperson for the state’s Police Command, Ajayi Okasanmi, who confirmed the incident, said they are on the trail of the hoodlums.
