Possibilities of faith in Christ (1)

Pastor Kumuyi

There are unlimited possibilities for “Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ.” By faith, such a person is “born of God,” born anew, born from above and born again. Everyone who is born again loves other children of God who are saved and demonstrates his or her love towards the Lord by keeping His commandments.

Unlike some so-called Christians suppose, the commandments of God are “not grievous” or wearisome. Therefore, believers should take His commands with delight, as it helps all who are “born of God (to overcome)the world” through faith in Jesus “the Son of God.”

All true believers in Christ have “the witness” of “eternal life,” which God has “given to us… (through)his Son.” Sadly, those who do not believe in Christ the Saviour “hath not (eternal)life.” Besides, believers have this confidence “that, if we ask anything according to his will, he heareth us… (and)we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.” For this reason, genuinely saved children of God show their appreciation to their Redeemer by keeping themselves from sin. He, as well, secures and protects them by the host of heaven so that “that wicked one toucheth (them)not.”

Believers prevail everywhere they go. “And this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.” This means our faith overcomes, one, the world of evil (Galatians 1:4). Christ died to redeem us from all the evils that came on us before we were saved. Two, the world of sin (John 16:8). Despite the presence of sin everywhere in the world, the Lord expects believers to live like white lilies growing out of the mud. Three, the world of unrighteousness (Romans 3:19,10-19). Four, the world of godlessness (James 4:4).

For the worldly, there is no fear of God in them. They plan, act, impact and influence society without bringing God in. Believers must yield to the Spirit’s prodding to shun their invitation to be godless because “friendship of the world is enmity with God.” Five, the world of disobedience and wrath (Ephesians 2:1-3). The world teaches disobedience to anyone who cares to listen to them. They exemplify their disobedience, rebellion and lawlessness on the streets, in public transport, against the government, in the family, society and the nominal church.

However, the faith in us, through our Lord Jesus Christ, makes us to overcome. Six, the world of corruption (2 Peter 2:19-21). The corruption in the world will not get to us only on the basis that the faith of Christ is in us.

Seven, the world of tradition (Colossians 2:8; Mark 7:13). The people of the world have developed wicked and idolatrous traditions, which even higher education is unable to deal with. So-called believers who are sold to traditions have ruined many; but Christ destroys these from the lives of those in whom He lives. Eight, the world of darkness (Ephesians 6:12). There are people who belong to dark societies and possess powers of darkness. They hurt and destroy people but believers will surely overcome them. Nine, the world of sinful pleasure (Titus 2:12; 1 Timothy 5:6). Christ gives us power to triumph over the pleasure of the flesh, sinful merriment and actions in the world.

Ten, the world of tempters and temptresses (Matthew 4:5-11). Satan indwells those who tempt others, as the Holy Spirit indwells believers. We will overcome if we rebuke them with the word of God. Eleven, the world of compromise (1 John 4:5). If we do not sift the word of God in favour of men, we will prevail over the compromise in the world. Twelve, the world of deception (2 John 1:7; 1 John 5:4). Born by the water of the Word, the Spirit of God and the re-creative power of the Lord Jesus Christ, our faith overcomes the world in every respect.
