
The Vice-Chancellor, Alex Ekwueme Federal University, Ndufu-Alike (AE-FUNAI) Ebonyi State, Prof. Sunday Elom, has warned newly admitted students of the institution to shun vices or risk being kicked out of the institution.
Elom, who read the riot act at the 11th matriculation ceremony of the institution, said the university has zero tolerance for cultism, exam malpractices, bullying, ‘sorting,’ campus prostitution, sex-for-grades and improper dressing.
Already, he said a committee has been set up and any student that dresses improperly would be sanctioned.
He also assured of adequate security on campus, urging them to report any suspicious activities, intimidation and harassment of any sort to the authorities for immediate action.
The vice chancellor disclosed that out of the over 15,000 candidates that applied to study in the institution, only 5,097 were admitted.
He reassured that all the programmes run by the institution are fully accredited by the National Universities Commission (NUC) and other relevant professional bodies.
Elom reminded that the university is committed to building the intellectual, hands-on and spiritual capacities of the students to enable them acquire relevant knowledge and skills for the 21st Century digital economy.
He advised the new students not to waste the opportunity offered them in the university to learn, unlearn and relearn by chasing frivolities.’
