Sanwo-Olu’s wife seeks collaboration to improve healthcare system

Wife of Lagos State Governor, Dr. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, has canvassed stakeholders’ support to improve the nation’s healthcare system.

The governor’s wife, who spoke as Special Guest of Honour at the 47th scientific conference and 48th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of Ophthalmological Society of Nigeria (OSN) in Lagos, yesterday, said the current administration is passionate about healthcare.

She said Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu had put necessary machineries in place to revamp and rejuvenate the sector for efficient service delivery.

Dr. Sanwo-Olu, who spoke on the theme: “Improving access to quality eye care” and sub-theme: “Sustainable School Eye Health, Corneal Donation & Eye Banking,” said through health insurance, the state is providing affordable and qualitative healthcare services irrespective of age grade.

On his part, Governor Sanwo-Olu, who was represented by Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health, Dr. Olusegun Ogboye, said the ministry has a strong blindness prevention programme.

Also, President of OSN Abiola Oyeleye, said: “We are partnering with Lagos State government and the media to reach the unreached.”

Prof. Ajisola Majekodunmi, who represented OSN Board of Trustees (BoT) Chairman, noted that the society would improve eye care.
