As Jakande academy fellows visit LASEMA

As ember months roll in, Lagos State Government has called on residents to always imbibe the habits of taking precautionary measures in all endeavours to avoid disaster and emergency incidents.

The Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, stated this when fellows of the Lateef Jakande Leadership Academy paid a learning visit to LASEMA.

He enjoined residents to change their attitude about taking precautions, maintaining that if safety measures are put in place, it has huge tendencies to check disasters and emergency incidents from happening as well as casualties from such incidents. He added that discipline is critical to checking and managing emergency management, imploring residents to take safety cautions as priority.

Earlier, the Director Operations of LASEMA, Engr. Olatunde Akinsanya, aside from briefing the visiting fellows on the operational mode of LASEMA and how deployment is done during emergencies, took the fellows around the various departments of LASEMA, especially the core areas during emergencies’ interventions.

The fellows were taken to the control room, call centres among other units with LASEMA, where they were told the processes for emergency management and response by the agency.

The Executive Secretary of Lateef Jakande Leadership Academy, Ayisat Agbaje-Okunade, said the visit was for the fellows to have a better understanding of the operations of LASEMA as part of their learnings as fellows and building their capacity as leaders.
