Airtel Nigeria, a Leading telecommunications company in the country, has denied a recent report that it had contracted with WATT Renewable Corporation (WATT) to deliver more than 32 MW of installed solar PV and storage across 600 cell sites in Nigeria.

The Nigeria-based Director of Corporate Communications and CSR, Femi Adeniran, said in a statement that the report is inaccurate.

“The report in the press about Airtel Nigeria awarding this nationwide contract to WATT Renewable Corporation is inaccurate,” Adeniran said.

He also noted that of the 30 sites commissioned, 18 are currently up and running.

Adeniran also reiterated Airtel Nigeria’s commitment to sustainability goals and its pursuit of Net Zero objectives across its operations.
