Idorenyen Uko shines at New York Film Academy

Young Nigerian filmmaker, Idorenyen Robert Uko, has achieved academic excellence graduating Summa Cum Laude from the New York Film Academy, in Los Angeles, boasting a cumulative grade point average of 4.00.

During her academic journey at the New York Film Academy, Uko directed and produced two outstanding films, Sincerely Me, and Error Connection, which showcased her unique storytelling style and cinematic flair.

Uko while sharing her ambitious vision, extending beyond the bright lights of Hollywood, expressed her passion for returning to Nigeria to revolutionise the country’s film industry. “I aspire to create films that resonate with both Nigerian and international audiences alike. Our stories are unique, and it’s time they received the global recognition they rightfully deserve. I firmly believe that we can achieve Hollywood-level production quality while staying true to our cultural roots.”

Uko received the prestigious Summa Cum Laude distinction at NYFA’s commencement ceremony.
