Foundation donates N100m as scholarship to boost education across Nigeria

In an inspiring demonstration of commitment to education and nation-building, the Gideon and Joy Foundation has donated the sum of ₦100 million in scholarship grants to support students across Nigeria.
The announcement was made after the foundation’s recent scholarship awards ceremony at Amaeze-Ishiagu, Ivo Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.
The foundation, led by Dr. Gideon Osi, a prominent medical doctor and a dedicated advocate for education, has taken a significant step towards fostering academic excellence and alleviating the financial burdens on deserving students.
During the award ceremony, a total of 105 exceptional students from both secondary schools and tertiary institutions from various parts of the country were selected as beneficiaries of the scholarship program.
The Governor of Ebonyi State, Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof Grace Umezurike, highlighted the critical role that education plays in nation-building commending Osi and the Foundation for their unwavering commitment to providing educational opportunities to deserving students.
In her address, she urged the scholarship recipients to seize this life-changing opportunity and strive for excellence, emphasising the transformative power of education in shaping the future of communities and the nation.
Chairman of the occasion, Senator Michael Okoro, emphasised the importance of such scholarship programs, especially in light of challenges like the removal of fuel subsidies. He commended Osi’s philanthropic spirit and encouraged others to follow his example by giving back to society and supporting education.
Osi shared his personal journey as a beneficiary of scholarships and reiterated his unwavering commitment to empowering young minds through education.
He assured the scholarship recipients that the funds for their education were secure and expressed his determination to expand the program to impact even more lives in the future.
The scholarship award ceremony was graced by other notable speakers, including Rector Wisdom Clinton Soren and Dr. Franca Ngozi Ogba, who both emphasised the importance of investing in human capital and contributing to societal development.
