Dismantles six bunkering sites
The Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) Pathfinder has uncovered an illegally tapped oil wellhead around Cawthorne Channel 2, in Degema Council of Rivers State.

The oil well is part of the Oil Mining Lease (OML) 18 oil field operated by both the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) and Sahara Energy.

The Navy, which uncovered the illegally tapped head, on Tuesday, through its surveillance team, stormed the location, yesterday, and dismantled six clustered illegal refining sites with a production capacity of three million litres of Automotive Gas Oil per day.

The illegal refiners had installed a six inch pipeline running over 2kilo metres from the wellhead to the three million litres capacity reservoir, which distributes crude to the six illegal refining camps.

Conducting newsmen around the illegal refinery, the Commander, NNS Pathfinder, Commodore Desmond Igbo, said the oil thieves were not only sabotaging the nation’s economy, but destroying the environment.

Igbo, who ensured that the illegal pipeline was disconnected from the wellhead, and the camps destroyed, advised youths to venture into legal business.
