Vice President, Kashim Shettima, Chairperson, Nigerian Governors’ Wives Forum, Olufolake Abdulrazaq; First Ladies of Ogun State, Bamidele Abiodun; Chioma Uzodimma (Imo); Mary Mauldline Nwifiru (Ebonyi) and Hajia Zainab Nasir (Kebbi), have been billed to speak at the seventh edition of Voice of Women Conference and Awards (VOW2023) hosted by Women Radio.
The one-day conference is scheduled for Wednesday, October 25, 2023, at the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Conference Centre in Abuja. It will bring together leaders of thought, policy-makers, advocates, and other stakeholders from across Africa to share knowledge and find innovative solutions to gender imbalance in leadership and governance.
According to the Convener and Chief Executive Officer at Women Radio, Toun Okewale Sonaiya, this year’s theme encapsulates the core ethos of VOW2023.
She said: “The conference is a rallying cry to reshape societal norms and institutional frameworks to allow women to take more significant roles in governance and leadership. It is a call to action that recognises the immense potential within women and underscores the necessity of their empowerment for the betterment of the nation.”
“This is why we have invited speakers from Namibia, Kenya, Liberia, and host country, Nigeria, to share practical steps taken both individually and by their governments to amplify women’s voices in leadership.
“The conference will also consider solidarity collaborations among the 36 First Ladies on their initiatives to reposition women in their respective states for leadership and development.”
