
United Capital Securities Ltd, a subsidiary of United Capital Plc, hosted a CEO Roundtable Breakfast Forum to discuss the role of technology in driving the growth and transformation of the Nigerian insurance sector. The forum featured a forum of industry leaders, policy makers, and key regulators, who explored ways to leverage technology to accelerate the growth and development of the Nigerian insurance sector.
The event commenced with a welcome address by the Group CEO, United Capital Plc, Mr. Peter Ashade, who proceeded to introduce the keynote speaker, Mr. Sunday Olorundare Thomas, Commissioner for Insurance and CEO of the National Insurance Commission (NAICOM). In his keynote address, the Commissioner commended United Capital Securities Ltd for initiating the discourse on Insurtech and highlighted the strategic measures adopted by the commission to promote innovation in the Nigerian insurance sector. The Commissioner and Mr. Ashade subsequently engaged in a fireside chat where they explored the pivotal role of technology in driving efficiency, transparency, and inclusion in the industry.
The forum also featured a panel of thought leaders and subject matter experts who participated in an interactive discourse on the role of the government and regulators in promoting the adoption of innovative technologies in the Nigerian insurance industry, strategies for mitigating cybersecurity risks in the age of digital transformation, and leveraging technology to improve financial literacy and increase insurance penetration among underserved communities. The panelists included Mr. Niyi Onifade, Chief Executive Officer, Heirs Life Limited, Professor Olayinka David-West, Associate Dean and Professor of Information Systems, Lagos Business School | PanAtlantic University, Mr. Ayokunle Olubunmi CFA, Head, Financial Institutions ratings, Agusto & Co, and Mr. Gbenro Dara, Founder/CEO, Octamile.
