Promises internal democracy in APC
The National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje, has given the assurance of a level playing ground and the entrenchment of internal democracy in the party.
He gave the promise when he received hordes of party stalwarts from the opposition New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) and the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) at the national secretariat of the APC in Abuja.
He described the APC as a strong political institution made up of personalities of knowledge and wisdom conversant with problems and aspirations of Nigerians.
Ganduje said their decision to dump the NNPP was a well thought-out one since the party had been allegedly hijacked and polluted by members of the Kwankwasiya political movement led by Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.
The APC chief remarked that the party is endowed with a strong structure capable of resolving conflicts among the ranks of its supporters across the country.
He assured the defectors that the APC remains a truly Nigerian party with members drawn from various ethnic and religious backgrounds.
“The APC is a party that is an expert in the management of diversity. You have returned home to where you rightfully belong. APC will take the people of Nigeria to the next level and I assure you are now full members of the party,” he said.
Ganduje also assured the decampees that he would make a formal arrangement to receive them in their domains where they would be fully integrated into the fold of the party in due course.
Prof. Rufai Alkali, who was NNPP’s National Chairman until the 2023 election, said that he, alongside the other defectors, resolved to join the APC to contribute their quota towards the development of the country under the President Bola Tinubu-led administration.
