She expressed gratitude to God for the opportunity to serve humanity and promised to work by the slogan of the club, “Where there is a need there is a lion.”

She disclosed that during her tenure, the club would renovate and equip the delivery room and maternity ward in 81 Division Hospital, Dodan Barracks. Also, the club would provide zebra and accident prevention signage in dangerous locations within the community to safeguard the lives of school children. “We envisaged that this project would cost millions of naira. We humbly solicit your support through a generous donation.”

Speaking during the investiture and fundraising ceremony, the Pioneer District Governor, Shakiru Balogun, urged the newly elected president to focus on the five global causes of lionism which are vision, hunger relief, pediatric cancer, diabetes and the environment. “Your actions as the club president will have a direct bearing on the realisation of the international president’s worldwide membership goal of 1.5 million lions.”

Balogun advised her to focus on membership satisfaction, retention, membership growth and club excellence. “The Club units are very important in our organisation as they interact directly with the communities that we have pledged to serve. It is expected that you and your team will continue to render the much-needed services.”

I urge you to carry out projects that are well thought out and meet the needs of your communities, determined through rigorous needs assessment in the Communities. This way, a buy-in of the communities is assured and the projects will be well taken care of. I also urge you to focus on the five Global causes of Lionism; Vision, Hunger Relief, Pediatric Cancer, Diabetes, and the Environment. The youths in our communities must not be forgotten”.

The Chairman of the day, Managing Director/CEO Risk Analyst Insurance Brokers Limited, Dr. Funmi Babington-Ashaye, commended the club’s consistent services and commitments to the course of humanity.  She said: “As a vital part of Lions Clubs International, the world’s largest service organisation, the club is steadfastly committed to its primary mission: serving the community, alleviating suffering, and leaving a positive impact on the lives of those in need.
